It was party time in the Spanish capital in the early hours of Sunday morning, as thousands of Real Madrid fans flocked to the fountain of Cibeles in central Madrid to celebrate 'La Undécima' - Los Blancos' 11th European Cup - with the team.

Madrid's jubilant supporters waited until 7:30 to welcome Zinedine Zidane's men, who claimed the Champions League after a penalty shoot-out win over city rivals Atlético in Milan on Saturday night.

And the hoards of Madridistas who turned out at Cibeles - the traditional meeting point for Real's silverware celebrations - were rewarded with magnificent scenes, as the players savoured their continental crown with their fans.

The festivities hit their high point when captain Sergio Ramos tied a club scarf around the goddess' shoulders - and, of course, when the defender lifted the Champions League trophy for all to see.

With the final at the San Siro going to extra time and penalties, Real did not touch down back in Madrid until 6:15. They headed straight to the Santiago Bernabéu, where an open-top bus was on hand to carry them down the Paseo de la Castellana.

Once at the fountain, Los Merengues celebrated their triumph together with their faithful for around an hour, amid joyous renditions of club songs.

And the party isn't over yet: this evening, the team are scheduled to visit the seats of Madrid's municipal and regional governments (at 20:00 and 20:30, respectively).

They will then make their way to the Bernabéu to top things off with a celebration at their home stadium that gets going at approximately 22:00.
