Manchester United fans choose Mourinho's XI: De Gea, Pogba...
Manchester United fans want four more signings to complete Mourinho's XI for the 2016/17 season at Old Trafford, Juan Mata doesn't make the starting XI.
Manchester United fans have expensive tastes and the team they want to see under the stewardship of Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford next season would cost more than 200 million euro. So says the survey of United fans in the Manchester Evening News, the team would have four new signings: Stones, Pogba, Saúl and Ibrahimovic.
This Mancunian dream-team would cost close to 237.5 million euro. Juventus want a minimum of €100M for Pogba, Saúl has an €80M buy-out clause in his Atleti contract and Stones' price tag is believed to be at around 45 million pounds sterling - €57.5M on a good exchange rate day.
Although exorbitant, the overall transfer fee blow would be softened by the arrival of Ibrahimovic on a free-transfer - a real let-off considering the hyper-inflated Premier League transfer prices at the moment. United have paid €38M for 22 year-old Eric Bailly who arrived at Villarreal just last season for €5.7M and is valued at €8M according to specialist transfer and valuation specialist website Transfermarkt.com.
The Spanish players involved at the Red Devils include Juan Mata, for whom the fans see a place in the squad, albeit next to Schweinsteiger on the bench, but the new Spanish face they want is Atletico Madrid's Saúl Ñiguez.
Here's the starting XI the fans want to see limbering up under the high command of the 'Special One' in August:
De Gea; Darmian, Smalling, Stones, Shaw; Rooney, Pogba, Saúl; Rashford, Ibrahimovic and Martial.
