Iniesta on Spain's defeat: "We got it wrong in the first half"
Spanish midfielder Iniesta accepted the superiority of the Italians in the first 45 minutes (they went in 1-0 up) and argued it set the tone for Spain's 2-0 defeat.
Spain midfielder Andrés Iniesta spoke after Spain crashed out of Euro 2016, beaten 2-0 by Italy in the Stade de France. Spain struggled, above all in the first half, to cope with Italy's organisation and high pressing match. Del Bosque's side went in losing 1-0 at half time, from Chiellini goal.
Iniesta had this to say about Spain's 2-0 defeat to Italy:
Disappointment
"There's little to say. We have to accept the disappointment and that they were more efficient in the key moments and they outdid us".
The match
I think we were focused too much on what they were doing and sometimes that can punish you. In the first half we got it wrong, we were looking too much at what they were doing and that hurt us. In the second half it was different, we were ourselves.
Tough after the good start to Euro 2016
"With how things were feeling with the team it is harder, but it's something we need to accept".
