For once, Gareth Bale wasn’t the hero for Wales. That honour goes to Hal Robson-Kanu, author of Wales’ second goal and man of the match against Belgium. Robson-Kanu – the star of the quarter-final – now believes the Welsh side can go on to beat Portugal in the semis and reach the final in Paris.

“We have the best player in the world with us. Right now, Bale is better than Cristiano and Messi. Gareth is definitely on the way to being at the pinnacle of football.” The striker added: “It won’t be particularly special to a play against Cristiano. I normally train next to the best, and that’s Bale.”

"I've got offers from various countries"

Robson-Kanu did admit that the game against the Portuguese would be tough, “because they’re a good team, but we’re confident in our chances.” He also singled out Pepe for praise. “He’s a great defender. A player who’s having a great tournament.”

The Wales forward, who is currently without a club now that his contract with Reading has expired, is waiting till after the Euros to decide on his future. “I’ve got three or four offers that I’ll look at after the tournament, but for now I’m just focusing on what’s in front of me and we’ll see later. There are offers from various countries. I don’t have a preference of staying in England or trying something abroad, somewhere like Spain.
