"We haven't talked to James" say PSG as club present Unai Emery
The Spanish coach was unveiled on Monday to French media and fans by PSG owner Al Khelaifi, who denied the club are in negotiations with Real Madrid's James Rodríguez
New Paris Saint Germain coach Unai Emery – who was presented to the media and hundreds of fans on Monday morning – has already pleasantly surprised those who received him with his fluent French, telling them he’s “very content” and looking forward to the next challenge in his career.
“We haven’t spoken to James...not with anybody.”
During the Basque’s presentation, journalists were quick to ask about the rumours surrounding Real Madrid’s James Rodríguez. PSG President Nasser Al Khelaifi denied that the club has been in contact with the Colombian about a possible transfer. “We haven’t spoken to him, neither with Real Madrid, not with anynody.”
Emery, though, underlined the importance of reinforcing the Parisian side’s attack following the departure of Zlatan Ibramhimovic.
"It's a clear objective to win the Champions League"
Champions League: “It’s a clear objective within my project here to see the team grow and improve. The Champion’s league is our motivation and our ultimate goal in this new era.”
Great PSG squad: “I’m going to work with great players and the aim is to get the best out of them. The club has the capacity to strengthen, but with the squad we’ve got here already there are more than sufficient resources. It’ll be a case of getting to know them better and begin adjusting things in pre-season.”
Expectations: “I know they are very high. The club is a winner, and one that’s worked hard to get where it is.”
