Non-stop football: 145 pre-season games in 34 days for LaLiga clubs
Real Betis, Real Sociedad, Villarreal and Eibar are LaLiga sides with most matches scheduled as part of their 2016/17 season preparation.
Real Betis were the early-birds of the 2016/17 pre-season playing the first official friendly game as part of preparation ahead of the new season with a 7-0 win over lower league side El Palo on July 15.
The 20 LaLiga clubs will dispute a total of 145 friendly games in a space of 34 days ahead of the 2016/17 campaign that gets under way on August 19 as Malaga face Osasuna in the season's opening fixture at La Rosaleda.
Gus Poyet's Real Betis are the most active team in pre-season activity with 12 matches scheduled whilst Real Sociedad, Villarreal and Eibar will all play 10 games respectively ahead of the new campaign.
Real Madrid will play just 5 preparatory matches with Barça and Atlético set to be in action on six occasions with all three teams participating in the pre-season International Champions Cup. Madrid will play in the USA with Barcelona playing in Europe and Atlético in action in Australia.
LaLiga World
Many LaLiga sides will be in action in far flung places as part of LaLiga World, an initiative in trying to boost the league's international profile with Celta and Deportivo playing in Uruguay, Sevilla in action in Orlando and Betis and Málaga in action in Germany.
Spanish summer tournaments
The traditional pre-season tournaments are a staple of the Spanish summer and this season A Coruña's Trofeo Teresa Herrera celebrates it's 70th anniversary when Deportivo take on Villarreal at Riazor on August 9th. Cadiz's Ramon Carranza and Huelva's Trofeo Colombino are other pre-season classics that take place in early Augusts.
