Real Madrid have made their first contact with Juventus to ask about Paul Pogba, according to ESPN sources close to the operation. The French midfielder has so far failed to sign a deal with Manchester United owing to various complications and, according to ESPN, Los Blancos have decided to enter the scene.

Pogba waiting for Madrid?

ESPN affirm that Manchester United suspect Pogba could be "stalling” negotiations to see if Real Madrid come in with an official bid, with the Spanish capital said to be the player’s first choice.

United "done everything they can"

The sources also say José Mourinho and the club have done everything they can, including setting a deadline for a deal. Because of this, United have also been keeping an eye on PSG’s Blaise Matuidi and are lining up Pogba's fellow Frenchman as a back-up plan.
