EA SPORTS

Cristiano Ronaldo will be the best player overall in the next edition of FIFA 17. EA Sports officially revealed the final three players yesterday from their Top 50 for the football simulator and the Real Madrid number 7 heads the list with Barça duo Messi and Neymar behind.

Ronaldo has been given a rating of 94 with his strongest elements those of pace and shooting (92), dribbling (91) and an 80 for physical strength, this being the biggest differential between him and his closest rivals. Messi's overall rating is just one point behind but he leads the Portugal man on passing (86 v 81) and dribbling (96 v 91). The closest to Messi's dribbling score in the game is his teammate Neymar on 95.

For the show-off gamer

It's worth noting that Neymar is the only one of the top three to have 5 stars for "weak foot" and "skill moves" so no doubt will be a popular choice for gamers looking to impress their friends, and competitors, with some spectacular displays.

The rest of the top-10 is made up with Luis Suarez (92), Neuer (best goalkeeper in the game, 92), Bale (90), Ibrahimovic (90), Boateng (90), Lewandowski (90) and David De Gea (90, highest ranked Spaniard).

The 'virtual' MSN vs BBC

Although Real Madrid fans can laud that they have the top player in the game, the next three positions go to Barça's MSN trident. Their average score is 92.3.

Compare this to Madrid's initialismed trio of Bale, Benzema and Cristiano who have an average rating of 90.3 (the French striker being the lowest of the three in 43 position on 87 points).

It's only a game

Although much fun and debate will be had around the ratings that the team at Electronic Arts have compiled it's also worth remembering what they themselves have said during their Top 50 unveiling tease. "Football is a game of opinions and the Top 50 is no different!".
