Formidable frontline

It has been over three months since we've seen the Barcelona frontline of Luis Suárez, Neymar and Lionel Messi combine on the football field. But this morning, 110 days after the last occasion, Luis Enrique was able to get them out on the training field together with Saturday's evening game against Alavés the target return to action.

Uruguay's Suárez returned to Spain yesterday after helping his country gain more points in the South American qualification games for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The fitness levels of the three of them will be assessed ahead of tomorrow's encounter.

The arrival of a fourth striker

The other option that Enrique now has at his disposal, of course, is that of new arrival Paco Alcácer. Much had been made about the manager's desire to bring in a back-up striker - or as some have said "plan B" - for his enviable trio and it's possible that the Spaniard, who has been away on international duty himself (although was an unsued substitute in Spain's 8-0 demolition of Liechtenstein), will make an appearance at the Camp Nou.

One of Alcácer or the recently impressive Arda Turan will be called upon to support the attack if Messi, potentially missing through injury, is not ready for action.
