Neymar announces launch of music career, 'Neymusico'
The Brazil and Barcelona star announced that his first musical release will come out this Wednesday through his FacebookChampions League semi-final draw: live online
Brazilian star Neymar announced on Sunday – just hours after Barcelona’s shock 2-1 defeat at home to Alavés – that this coming week will mark the beginning of his “music career”.
In a post to his fans through his official Twitter account, Neymar revealed, “This Wednesday I begin my music career and I’m going to release my first song on Facebook.”
‘Neymusico’
“We will have ‘Neymusico’. Share it”, added the striker, who on various occasions has published photos through social media showing him appearing at concerts with well-known musicians as well as of him singing along to popular verses of “pagodas” (a musical genre derived from samba). Neymar is also known to have been taking piano classes.
Footballers in music: from Pelé to Jesé
The Brazilian, then, looks set to follow in the footsteps of compatriot Pelé who has also released his own album as well as a recent song titled ‘Hope’ (Esperança), which was composed especially for the Rio Olympics 2016.
Neymar won’t be the only current football star to launch a music career, either. Ex-Real Madrid and now PSG forward Jesé has also doubled up as a reggaeton rapper under the alter ego, Jey-M.
