Xicu Ferrer, president of SD Formentera, confirmed ahead of the Copa del Rey 2016/17 fourth round draw that he and all the local fans are hoping for a draw that would see Real Madrid or FC Barcelona visit the small Balearic island.

"Madrid or Barça, I really don't mind as either team visiting Formentera would be huge for the island", he stated in an interview with the EFE agency.

Formentera has a population of 11.500 inhabitants which swells with tourists during the summer months.

SD Formentera are the only survivors from the Spanish Tercera División and the island will hold collective baited breath as the draw for the Round of 32 is made at the Spanish FA headquarters in Las Rozas tomorrow (Friday) at mid-day.

Formentera play at the municipal stadium on the island and the ground holds 1.000 spectators and has an artificial playing surface. "We'll talk with local government and see if we can increase the capacity at the ground and avoid having to play the game at Son Moix (Palma de Mallorca),as that would be a blow for all our fans", observed Ferrer.

The club were founded in 1969 and are currently third in the regional Balearic division (group 11 of 18 regional leagues) of the Spanish tercera (Spain's fourth category).

The island based club have 350 season ticket holders and a budget of 400.000 euro per season and have one Baleareic tercera title in their trophy room which they secured two seasons ago

Ferrer admitted that no-one expected Formentera to make it this far in the cup and it's a historic time for the people of the island to enjoy the success of the football team.
