Andy Murray remained firmly in contention to become the new world number one after thrashing Frenchman Lucas Pouille to reach the Paris Masters quarter-finals on Thursday.
The Scot won the final eight games against 13th seed Pouille to cruise to a dominant 6-3, 6-0 victory and extend his winning streak to 17 matches.
Murray faces Berdych or Simon in last eight
He will meet seventh seed Tomas Berdych or Frenchman Gilles Simon next as he bids to end Novak Djokovic's 122-week run at the top of the rankings.
Murray has won three straight tournaments - in Beijing, Shanghai and Vienna - to drastically close the gap on Djokovic and must at least reach the final in Paris to stand a chance of displacing the Serb.
