Josep Vives, FC Barcelona club spokesperson explained why no representatives from the Catalan club attended this evening's Marca awards ceremony held at the Reitro Park in central Madrid. Barça's Luis Suárez and Jenniffer Hermoso were awarded prizes during the event.

Barcelona explained that “when we were made aware that a Fair-Play award was to be given to Javier Tebas, we decided not to send any club representatives. This award to Mr. Tebas we feel is unacceptable given his recent comments”.

Vives made reference to the interview that SportYou conducted with the LaLiga president after the Valencia - Barcelona game at Mestalla where he claimed that Barça players “appeared to react like skittles.. We all saw these images and there are millions of kids watching too. If my children were to see my feigning something, I would feel embarrassed to see them later”.
