Mourinho's 'black list': eleven possible United exits in January
The poor start to the season at Old Trafford hints at a major shake up at Manchester United when the winter transfer window opens.
Thew start to the 2016/17 has not lived up to pre-season expectation at Old Trafford with United sixth in the Premier League, some six points off top spot and having lost two of their four Europa League fixtures to date.
The disappointing start to the campaign has started speculation that Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho is set to make a series of changes in personnel with 11 players being singled out as possible candidates for an Old Trafford exit.
The 'Mou black-list'
Bastian Schweinsteiger: The German midfielder has failed to click with the coach from Setubal and was even forced to train with the United reserve team for a spell. A move to MLS side Chicago Fire may be the career swansong for the former Bayern Munich star.
Morgan Schneiderlin: His fine performances at Southampton saw a big money move (35 million euro) in the summer of 2015 but this season the French player has just mustered five minutes playing time this season.
Memphis Depay: Having shone at Dutch side PSV Eindhoven, the defender was brought to United by Van Gaal. The player has yet to impress Mourinho with the likes of AC Milán, Juventus and Everton loaning up to secure his services.
Michael Carrick: The veteran player renewed his term at Old Trafford for one year last summer but has just been used by the Portuguese coach on one occasion this season.
Phil Jones: The 24 year old player has failed to establish himself as a core first team player since his move to Manchester United in 2011. Despite signing a new four year old deal with United in 2015, everything points to his time at Mourinho's United as being limited.
Matteo Darmian: The Italian player has yet to stamp his mark on a first team position at United since his move from Serie A side Torino in 2015. To date the full back has made just two appearances in the current campaign.
Wayne Rooney: The future of the England captain at Old Trafford has been the source of speculation for some time now and a move away from Manchester with Mourinho in charge certainly can't be ruled out.
Ashley Young: The 31 year old has just managed 368 minutes of first team football this season and is one of the leading candidates for a departure from United in the winter market.
Marcos Rojo: The Argentinian defender has just played in three Premier League games for United this season under Mourinho and express his dissatisfaction about being relegated to the role of substitute at the club.
Daley Blind: Despite having participated in nine of the eleven Premier League games in the current campaign, reports close to Old Trafford suggest that his future lies away from the club.
Juan Mata: A poor relationship between coach and player exists that dates back to the Chelsea days. Despite some bright performances for United given the nature of the dynamic between player and coach, a move away for the Spaniard wouldn't come as a surprise.
