The hot Spanish prospects

Borja Mayoral can look back on 2016 as a very successful year as he debuted for the Real Madrid first team, helped the Spanish national team qualify for the Under-21 European Championships and, through his continued development on loan at Wolfsburg, made it onto the Once de Oro team of the Fútbol Draft - the Golden XI.

The technical committee that chose the team of youngsters was presided over by ex-national team coach Iñaki Sáez. Along with Mayoral, Real Madrid also saw another loanee, Jesús Vallejo, as well as Marco Asensio make the list of the most promising young players of Spanish football.

Bundesliga development

The man who has made six appearances for Wolfsburg this season - scoring one goal for the Bundesliga side in the process - wrote on his official Vippter account:

"I'm proud to be on the 2016 fútbol draft eleven. I thank the people that chose me from the many great players that Spanish football has in its youth ranks."

For me it's an honour and also a motivator to keep working as hard as I can. At the moment I am having a new experience in my time in Germany with Wolfsburg which is helping me to grow. I'm also very excited to be a part of the under-21 Spanish team, each call up makes me so happy and I hope that we can enjoy next summer in the Euros."
