Chicharito ends 2016 without scoring in 17 matches
Javier Hernández has gone three months without getting on the scoresheet for either Leverkusen or the Mexico national team - 1264 minutes and counting.
A barren end of year
Javier Hernandez has not finished 2016 in the scoring form that was previously getting him some very wanted attention. The Mexican striker has not managed to score in his last 17 games for club and country - the longest spell in his professional career. His last goals came for German side Bayer Leverkusen in the 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund.
Since that strike, he has played a part in 11 Bundesliga games, four in the Champions League, two for Mexico and one in the German cup, the DFB-Pokal. These amount to 1,264 minutes of game time opportunity - more than 21 hours - but of these 17 games he has started 13, completing 11, and come on from the bench four times.
New year resolution: score more
Chicharito is expected to return to action with Leverkusen on the 22 January against Hertha Berlin in front of his home fans. They'll be hoping the festive break does something to change his fortunes - maybe Santa will bring him a new pair of boots.
