Jesús Vallejo: "I work every day of my life to play at Real Madrid"
Jesús Vallejo continues to impress on-loan at Eintracht Frankfurt, and there's even talk of an early call back. Despite remaining focused on the Bundesliga, the young defender admits he's dying to play for Real Madrid.
Jesús Vallejo, the young Real Madrid defender defender on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt, has won a great number of plaudits with his performances in the Bundesliga this season, playing a key part in the club’s form which has seen them rise to occupying a spot in the Champions League places.
As well as receiving praise in Germany, Vallejo has also excited Real Madrid fans as news of his commanding displays filter back to the Spanish capital, with many – including the club itself – seeing the 19-year old as a Los Blancos star of the future.
There has even been talk about Zinedine Zidane recalling Vallejo from his season-long loan early in January, not just due to consistent injury problems amongst Madrid’s back-line since September, but also because Vallejo has been just that good.
"I have to continue concentrating on Eintracht"
Vallejo did return to Spain over the winter break, but only to spend time with his family at Christmas. The level-headed centre back has since left again for Frankfurt, though told AS that he harbours hopes of coming back soon on a permanent basis while at the same time remaining completely focused on the task at hand.
“I always say the same: if I signed for Madrid it’s because I have the maximum desire to play there one day,” said Vallejo, who turns 20 on Thursday.
“Everyone would like to be in a dressing room with the best players in the world and compete against the best teams, and that is Madrid. But I have to continue concentrating on Eintracht. It’s not worth thinking about all that and not actually doing it. I’m focusing on the short term. My mentality hasn’t changed, my ideas are very clear.”

Vallejo also expressed his gratitude at how Real Madrid have been keeping in close contact and letting him know that he remains firmly in their future plans.
“They come to see me personally, they call me,” said Vallejo. "I’m thankful for that because it’s recognition of the good work I put in. That they recognise your work is a pleasure and it helps me get even better.
“I dream about [playing for Madrid], hopefully the day will come. If I’m honest, I work for that every day of my life. My head is focused on Frankfurt, but I’m a realist and I have that dream. I’m dying for that day to come, to play at the Bernabéu.”
