Musa at the double as Leicester see off Everton

Leicester retaliated to clinch their place in the FA Cup Fourth Round with Ahmed Musa scoring a brace at Goodison this afternoon.

Claudio Ranieri's side found themselves trailing when Romelu Lukaku put Everton into the lead just after the break, but substitute Musa found the target twice in five minutes to settle a hard-fought third round tie on Merseyside.

Run finally at an end

Musa's fine finishing ended Leicester's barren run of 10 games without a win away from home in all competitions and ensured the Premier League champions got their revenge for losing to Everton on Boxing Day.

Jamie Vardy was missing for Leicester, but Ranieri handed a debut run-out to Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, who joined from Genk this week. Leonardo Ulloa was forced off injured off with an injury on 35 minutes, which prompted Ramieri to bring Musa off the bench.

Deulofeu sparks reaction

Chances were at a premium for Ronald Koeman's side as they struggled to find any rhythm and Belgian striker Lukaku wasted their best opportunity just before the interval. Koeman sent on Gerard Deulofeu after the half-time interval and he made an instant impact. Deulofeu sprinted past defender Ben Chilwell and whipped over a cross for Lukaku to tap home just after the hour.

But Everton's lead was short-lived as Musa equalised with a scrambled effort that entered in off the post from Gray's cross just three minutes later. Suddenly, Leicester were in full gear and they scored again on 71 minutes when Danny Drinkwater released Musa to rifle in his fourth goal of the season. A superb save from Kasper Schmeichel preserved Leicester's lead as the Danish keeper kept out a long-range strike from Kevin Mirallas in the final moments.
