Maksimovic confirms agreement with Valencia
The young, midfielder, who is on the books at Astana, spoke to Serbian broadcaster B92 and admits he has received offers from Europe's top clubs.
Serbian talent
While club officials are busy trying to lock down the loan of Simone Zaza, Valencia appear to have sewn up the capture of talented 21-year-old midfielder Nemanja Maksimović for next season. The player himself confirmed that an agreement is in place in an interview with Serbian broadcaster B92, saying: "Valencia is a great club, it was very easy to reach an agreement".
As Diario AS reported last month, Valencia started negotiating with the Astana player some time ago with Jesús García Pitarch, who stepped down from his post as Technical Secretary yesterday, leading negotaitions. Spanish radio Cadena SER even published a photograph of the young player signing a pre-contract. Maksimović was part of the Serbia Under-19 side who were crowned European champions in 2013 and also the Under-20 side which won the World Cup in 2015.
Tempting offers
According to the declarations made to B92, all that remains is for Astana and Valencia to agree the terms of the move: "I had offers from some of the best clubs in Europe, but the opportunity to start from zero with a new-look Valencia appealed to me. My contract with Astana expires in six months and I don't think the club will create any problems with my transfer to Valencia. I hoped it is all sorted out within five to six days", he said.
