Roberto Carlos: Messi knows he should be here
Roberto Carlos believes it is strange that Barcelona refused to travel to Zurich for the FIFA award ceremony and says Messi should know better Brazil-Argentina live
Former Real Madrid player, Roberto Carlos, has spoken about the fact that no Barcelona players will attend "The Best" gala in Zurich.
"It's a bit strange that the Barcelona players won't show up," the Brazilian said. "It's sad that the Barcelona player won't come here," he continued.
Carlos told reporters that Real Madrid were the best team in the world last year but that should not prevent the Barcelona players from attending.
Messi should understand
Along with Antoine Griezmann and Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi has been nominated as the player of the year and Carlos believes, "Leo has to understand that he should be here. It's a FIFA award and Real Madrid play on Thursday too. The obligations for both teams are the same."
Barcelona released a statement today justifying their players' absence from the ceremony, stating that they had to prioritize their preparation for the game on Wednesday against Athletic Club de Bilbao.
