Barcelona vice-president gives reasons for Messi not travelling
Mestre, Barcelona's vice-president has stated the reasons why Barcelona did not travel to Zurich for "The Best" and says there is no problem with FIFA Brazil-Argentina live
Barcelona's vice-president, Jordi Mestre, has given reasons as to why Barcelona have not travelled to Zurich for The Best ceremony. "The players are tired. We talked about it after the Villarreal game. There is no problem with FIFA, we just want to prioritize the Copa del Rey game," he said.
Decision made by both parties
The decision, based on Mestre's words, was a bilateral agreement. He says that after the Villarreal game, the players were spoken to and they said they were tired.
"We have considered the travel times, the schedule and we have come to the conclusion that it's better if we don't travel in an effort to recover. Don't worry, I can assure you that the fact that Messi may or may not win is not the reason why the players did not travel. We must consider the game against Athletic Bilbao. We made the decision shortly before travelling."
