Real Madrid to secure deal for Swedish striker, Alexander Isak, next week

Representatives of 17-year old AIK Solna striker, Alexander Isak, will fly to Madrid on Wednesday to finalise a contract. Real can sign the player now, but must wait till summer to register him officially due to a FIFA transfer sanction.

Sevilla - Real Madrid

Real Madrid are very close to signing of one of the most promising strikers in European football; 17-year-old Swede, Alexander Isak, who is known in his home country by the nickname 'The Black Ibrahimovic'.

The AIK Solna striker is represented by brothers Vlado and Zoran Lemic, who also act as agents for Real Madrid midfielder, Luka Modric (a factor that has facilitated the operation). The Lemic brothers will land in Madrid next Wednesday to close the deal.

Madrid can sign, but not register Isak

Los Blancos are currently serving a one-transfer-window sanction handed down by FIFA which prohibits them from registering any new players until the end of the season. However, the sanction doesn’t prevent the club from signing players.

The idea of finalising the deal with Isak and his representatives now is to stop any other team from snapping him up (Chelsea and Juventus have also shown interest), and to then officially incorporate him into the squad this summer.

Transfer fee to be agreed

AIK reportedly turned down a Madrid offer for Isak in December

Isak’s total transfer cost, as well as details over the player’s contract, are yet to be agreed on. However, taking the signing of the similarly-aged Scandinavian Martin Odegaard as a past example, Madrid offered the then 16-year old €10.5m for a three-year deal back in 2015, and it is believed to be the same kind of figure that has persuaded Isak to swap Sweden for the Spanish capital.

The European Champions have been tracking the promising young forward for some time now, and he was already invited for a tour Madrid’s Valdebebas training facilities a few months ago. The club also invited him to the Bernabeu's presidential box to see the match against Sporting on 26 November, which ended in a 2-1 victory for the Whites.

Sweden international

Isak has represented Sweden throughout all categories, and already scored for the senior national side too. The goal came in a friendly played earlier this week (12 January 2017) against Slovakia, as he netted the opener on his 2nd cap in a 6-0 victory in Abu Dhabi.

Isak is Swedish by birth and has Eritrean parentage.
