Robert Fernández, sports director at Barcelona, has been speaking with Catalan radio station, RAC1, about the state of affairs with regards to the renewal of Lionel Messi's contract with the club.

The man at the heart of many of the discussions said that things were going "really well" and that he was "very calm" about the whole situation in spite of many other rumours to the contrary.

"It's going well, actually better, it's going very well," he said to the media outlet, "I am very calm, of this you can be sure. There have been lots of comments, from people who want to mislead, but for some time we have working on it and we are very calm."

This comes on the back of recent strong and clear words from Messi's father and will be music to the ears of his Barça followers.
