Sexist banners at Lyon send women "to the kitchen"

Spectators at the Olympique Lyon - Lille game displayed banners indicating that they thought women should be in the kitchen while men should be at the football.

Sexism at the stadium

Sexism rears its ugly head again in football, in these pathetic images from matchday 22 in Ligue 1, where certain fans in the Parc Olympique Lyonnais stadium for the Lyon-Lille game displayed banners indicating they felt women should be in the kitchen, while a man's place is at the football.

Lyon have a great women's side, and, as can be seen in the photo, there are plenty of women in the ground supporting their team.

It's another example of a serious blight on football, and comes hot on the heels of reports this week of a female assistant referee in Spain being told to stay away from a "man's game", along with other even more horrendous insults.

Referee stops game after being told to "do the dishes"

In September last year, a female referee in Spain stopped a match after sexist insults, including being told to "do the dishes".
