Jesé Rodríguez misses debut sitter in Las Palmas defeat

Jesé could have been an instant hero for Los Amarillos after coming on as a substitute at Granada - but was left to rue a glaring miss.

Jesé Rodríguez misses debut sitter in Las Palmas defeat

Jesé Rodríguez endured a Las Palmas debut to forget on Monday evening as his new side were defeated 1-0 at relegation strugglers Granada in LaLiga.

The ex-Real Madrid man came on in the second half at Nuevo Los Cármenes for his first appearance since completing a loan move from Paris Saint-Germain.

Jesé replaces Vicente Gómez for his Las Palmas bow.

Couldn't turn in cross from point-blank range

And within moments of his introduction for Vicente Gómez, Jesé spurned a golden chance to cancel out Andreas Pereira's 17th-minute opener for the hosts.

With the goal gaping, he was unable to direct a low right-wing cross into the net at the back post, his effort bouncing into keeper Guillermo Ochoa's grateful hands.

How Jesé's miss unfolded:

Jesé is free at the back post as the cross comes over from the right.

As the ball reaches him, he prepares to prod in the equaliser with his left...

...but gets his strike all wrong, directing the ball back towards goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa...

...who gratefully smothers it.

Squanders second opportunity late on

With ten minutes remaining in Andalusia, the 23-year-old forward then failed to beat Ochoa when put through on the Mexican by Jonathan Viera.
