Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has been awarded by the British magazine Four Four Two as the best foreign player to have ever played in the Premier League.
In a ranking of 100 footballers, the former Manchester United forward came out on top of the pile for his scintillating performances and bags of goals during his six seasons at Old Trafford. The magazine’s Top 5 is completed by Thierry Henry (Arsenal), Eric Cantona (Man Utd), Dennis Bergkamp (Arsenal), Didier Drogba (Chelsea) and Sergio Aguero (Man City).
Strong Spanish contingent
Ronaldo also surpassed other non-British heroes from years gone by such as Patrick Vieira (Arsenal), Ruud Van Nistelrooy (Man Utd) and Jurgen Klinsman (Spurs), as well as current stars such as ex-Liverpool and now Barça icon, Luís Suarez, and the recentChinese recruit, Carlos Tevez (Man City).
Among the Spaniards mentioned in the list, are Manchester City’s David Silva (14th), Fernando Torres (Liverpool/Chelsea) in 23rd, former Arsenal and current Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas in 24th, and ex-Liverpool commander Xabi Alonso at 29th.
