Reports in Italy are linking Luis Enrique, who will leave Barcelona at the end of the season, with a return to Roma, where he was coach during the 2011-12 season. Il Messaggero ran a story on Tuesday stating that Sevilla sporting director Monchi has agreed to move to the Stadio Olimpico this summer and that he wants to bring in the Barça boss for another spell in the Eternal City, despite Luis Enrique’s differences of opinion with the board during his brief tenure.

Emery also in the frame

Meanwhile, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Monchi is also considering a move for his former partner at the Sánchez Pizjuán, Unai Emery, whose first season at the Parc des Princes has not gone entirely according to plan. However, PSG’s onwers are apparently keen to retain Emery as part of a long-term plan for the club.

Valero and Iborra on Monchi's mind

The media in Italy also believes that one of Monchi’s first moves in the transfer market will be for Fiorentina’s Spanish midfielder Borja Valero, who is ejoying a fine season at the Estadio Artemio Franchi and is seen by Roma as a key part of a rebuild of the side’s midfield. Sevilla captain Vicente Iborra has also been linked with a move to Roma as Monchi begins laying the groundwork for a refit of the Serie A club’s squad.
