Unzué suggests he could be next Barça boss: I hope I don't have time next year
Luis Enrique will leave Barcelona in the summer but his who his successor will be still remains a mystery while Juan Carlos Unzué has given a hint that he wants the jobBarcelona vs Deportivo: LaLiga
Juan Carlos Unzué, current coach of Barcelona under Luis Enqrique, has set tongues wagging with a comment made at the start of the Volta a Catalunya (he was in the car following the stage with Movistar along with his brother) when he said, "I hope I don't have time for the bike next year. The time to rest and deactivate will arrive."
The Barcelona job is notoriously difficult and Luis Enrique has cited exhaustion as one reason for leaving in the summer and not renewing his contract. It would seem that Unzué knew what he was doing when he made the comment as he makes it clear to the board of directors that he is eyeing the job. He has also been given the blessing of the outgoing coach, who says he will never be mad at him for taking the job.
Jorge Sampaoli has been ruled out of the job and while there remains other candidates, Unzué might prove an appointment that causes the least disruption amongst an already very successful squad.
