Barça-Juve kick-off catches Dani Alves chatting in home dugout

The right-back had trotted over to the Barcelona bench to greet his old Camp Nou pals, and was taken by surprise by the referee's whistle.

Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final between Barcelona and Juventus kicked off with visiting full-back Dani Alves still mid-chinwag in the home dugout.

Barcelona old boy forced to cut pleasantries short

Alves, who left Barça for Juve last summer, had made his way over to the bench to exchange pleasantries with his ex-colleagues ahead of the Camp Nou clash.

Unaware Alves wasn't on the pitch, referee Bjorn Kuipers got the last-eight second leg underway - prompting the defender to hastily scamper back on and into position.

Fortunately for the Brazilian, Vecchia Signora team-mate Juan Cuadrado had noticed his absence and dropped deep to cover until he joined the play.

Juventus defend first-leg advantage to progress

The match ended goalless to see Juve, who had come into the return in Catalonia leading 3-0 from the opening leg, book their place in the semi-finals
