Villarreal boss confirms Musacchio's move to AC Milan

Villarreal president Fernando Roig admitted today that the club is "negociating and close to closing the transfer of centre-back Mateo Musacchio to AC Milan". Roig said that the operation "is good for both parties", but wouldn't disclose the sums involved in the player's transfer.

Musacchio misses end-of-season staff lunch

When asked why Musacchio was absent from Villarreal's end-of-season lunch this afternoon, Roig replied, "He's in Milán and if that's the case, it's because there is an agreement between the three parties". The president reiterated:"It's a positive arrangement for everyone concerned which is why the deal is close to going through".

Musacchio came close to joining Milan last summer but the move didn't come to fruition because the Italian club were unable to come up with Villarreal's asking price.

Musacchio breezes through Milan medical

Milan confirmed the defender's presence in Italy on the club's official Twitter account. Musacchio passed the medical revision and even gave a few words to the club's web page in Italian.

Villarreal not impressed with Musacchio's attitude

Musacchio joined Villarreal from River Plate in 2009 and has been a key piece in the team's back four since then. After seven seasons at El Madrigal, the player is keen to try his luck in another European league and found Serie A the most appealing. The manner in which he has made his departure, including a half-hearted performance in Sunday's derby against Valencia - and organizing a trip to Milan the day after the conclusion of the league, has not gone down well in the back offices at El Madrigal.
