Atlético Madrid president Enrique Cerezo hinted that star forward Antoine Griezmann will remain at the LaLiga club next season.
Cerezo says Griezmann will stay
Griezmann, 26, has been flirtatious with the media in the past couple of weeks, adding fuel to rumours of a move to Manchester United. Yet there is a belief within the Calderón that the remarks are part of a ploy to secure an improved contract at Atlético.
Cerezo gave a strong indication the France international would remain at Atlético, who are moving to their new stadium – the Wanda Metropolitano – next season.
"He will be at the Wanda Metropolitano," he told Telecinco when asked if Griezmann would stay at Atlético.
Griezmann enjoyed another fine campaign for Los Colchoneros, scoring 26 goals in all competitions.
Mourinho coy on Griezmann move
Earlier this week, José Mourinho said any transfer deals were in the hands of the Premier League club's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
United beat Ajax in the Europa League final in Stockholm, thus securing a passage to the 2017/18 Champions League. If Griezmann is to head to Manchester, that result and subsequent qualification would be key.
