Who is Adham Mohammad, the referee for USMNT vs Belgium in the round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup?
The Jordanian referee will be in charge of officiating the controversial quarterfinal qualifying match between the Americans and the Belgians.
Everything is set for the USMNT as it looks to secure a place in the quarterfinals. This afternoon, Mauricio Pochettino’s side will take on Belgium in a highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup clash. With the surprise inclusion of Folarin Balogun, the United States will aim to move one step closer to the title after its victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina. Here is the referee who will be in charge of the match.
Jordanian referee Adham Mohammad has been appointed to officiate the game, alongside fellow countrymen Mohammad Alkalaf and Ahmad Alroalle as assistant referees. Gabonese officials Pierre Atcho and Boris Ditsoga will serve as the fourth official and reserve assistant referee, respectively.
Adham enters this match having already officiated three games at the 2026 FIFA World Cup: the 0-0 draw between Spain and Cape Verde, Belgium’s 5-1 victory over New Zealand, and England’s 2-1 win over DR Congo in the Round of 16.

Although this tournament marks his World Cup debut, Adham has built an impressive résumé in international football, having previously officiated at the FIFA U-20 World Cup and the Olympic Games.
He has also accumulated extensive experience across AFC competitions, including the AFC Champions League, the Jordanian Professional League, and multiple FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Over the course of his professional career, Adham has officiated approximately 174 matches, handing out 623 yellow cards and 27 red cards.
