Shakespeare pens three-year extension with Leicester

The coach, who took over from Claudio Ranieri back in March, has proved that he has got what it takes to lead the team back to the upper part of the Premier League table.

Craig Shakespeare has renewed his contract with Leicester where he will continue as manager for the next three seasons. The 35-year-old is set to continue the project he inherited from Claudio Ranieri, who guided the Foxes to their first-ever Premier League triumph in 2015/2016 but was sacked in March of this year when a string of poor results left the team perched just four points above the relegation places.

Shakespeare appointment transforms Leicester

Shakespeare's arrival at the King Power has an immediate impact on the team, who posted a magnificent run of six consecutive wins which whisked them away from the drop zone. The Shakespeare effect also inspired Leicester to turn their Champions League tie against Sevilla around to secure an historic place in the quarter finals, where they were eventually eliminated by Atlético. All of that convinced Leicester's board of directors that the club already had the ideal man for the job at the club - a manager who has restored calm within the side - one which now aspires to return to the top places in the Premier League next season.
