Diego Costa "unlikely to return to Brazil" says brother, Jair
Reports in Brazil place the Chelsea centre-forward at Palmeiras for six months before he joins Atlético in January. The player's brother insists it won't happen.Barcelona vs Atlético: UEFA Youth League
Diego Costa's brother Jair weighed up the possibilities of the player returning home on a temporary basis to join a Brazilian club on loan until he is able to complete his transfer back to Atlético de Madrid. Costa himself declared after Spain's recent meeting with Macedonia that there is a chance he could play in Brazil temporarily and join Atlético after their transfer ban has been lifted in January next year - but it will depend on what Chelsea have to say. One of the clubs which has been mentioned by Brazilian media is Palmeiras - an option which isn't on the cards, says the player's brother: "To be honest I see that as being very difficult. A lot of friends have called me in the past few hours to ask me about it, but Diego hasn't sai anything about it to me", Jair told Yahoo Brasil.
Diego Costa not going to China, says brother
As for the chance that Costa could spend a few months in China's Super League to keep in shape before he makes his return to Atlético, that too, looks highly unlikely. "That's very complicated because next year is a World Cup year and Diego wants to be in the Spain squad for that", Jair explained, adding, "Diego has a great deal of affection for Atlético, but right now, there's nothing - we have to wait and see what happens". Costa has stated several times that his intention is to return to Atlético but it's also worth noting that the Rojiblancos are not keen on him remaining inactive until January.
