Milan won't give up on Donnarumma: He will play at Milan next year
AC Milan's sporting director, Massimo Mirabelli, spoke to Sportitalia about the possibility of Donnarumma spending next season watching from the stands.
AC Milan will not back down despite Gianluigi Donnarumma's recent 'no' to their offer of a contract extension. The sporting director Massimo Mirabelli kept hope alive that something could be done and was unmoved despite the recent news. "Donnarumma is a Milan player. He is a very great competitor and a good guy and without doubt he will play at Milan.
There was report of disrespect being felt by the Rossoneri and even a suggestion that the youngster could be left to sit in the stands next season, which would crush his chance of backing uo Gii Buffon in next year's World Cup. However, Mirabelli says "the manager will decide, we treat all of the players in the same way and there has been no discussions of that nature between anybody".
The sporting director also announced that he would go to watch the Euro under-21's in Poland where Donnarumma is Italy's last line of defense. "I will go, but just to watch the games, not to speak with him".
