Vinicius Junior's parents visited Barcelona before Madrid move

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Brazilian's parents visited Barça and looked around La Masia, and they were impressed with what they saw.

Vinicius Junior's parents visited Barcelona before Madrid move

Vinicius is officially a Real Madrid player. Los Blancos, steadfast in their quest to hoover up the best young talent from across the globe, beat off other European heavyweights to secure the Brazilian’s signature.

Barcelona were close to Vinicius signing

Yet Barcelona were on the verge of signing the 16 year old. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan club were also chasing the Flamengo forward, before Real Madrid ultimately won the race and parted with €45m.

Barça used La Masia as a symbol to attract Vinicius to the club. In fact, the player’s parents visited Barcelona a few months ago with the intention that their son would sign on the dotted line.

Those in charge at Barcelona showed Vinicius’ parents the club’s facilities, and they appeared to have been impressed. The transfer was progressing well, with most of the loose ends tied up, but Vinicius’ rapidly-inflating price tag created problems.

Theo Hernández déjà vu

For Barça, it represents a similar story to that of Theo Hernández. The Atlético Madrid full-back was also close to a move to Camp Nou, before Real Madrid swept in with a more lucrative offer.
