Paris Saint Germain are resigned to losing the race for Kylian Mbappé’s signature, and will turn their attention to Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale. According to Le Parisien, PSG are ready to make a move for the Welshman if Madrid place him on the transfer list.

Mbappé banking on a BBC departure

In France, L’Équipe has stated that Mbappé knows that one of Real Madrid’s ‘BBC’ attacking trident (Benzema, Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo) will leave the club. Karim Benzema’s position at the Bernabéu appears safe. Florentino Pérez was instrumental in signing the French striker, and Zinedine Zidane has always been clear that he is a key player for Real Madrid. Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo is reconsidering his departure from Madrid following Florentino’s statements of support.

That leaves Gareth Bale. The former-Tottenham man endured a season plagued by injuries. He made just 19 appearances in LaLiga. That is not a sufficient contribution from a player that Madrid had viewed as Cristiano Ronaldo’s replacement as the club’s poster-boy.

If Bale were to leave Madrid, his departure could create a space in Los Blancos’ starting XI for Kylian Mbappé. Although Isco, who enjoyed a scintillating end to the season in Bale’s absence, may have something to say about that.

Sergio Agüero is Plan B

PSG are also interested in Manchester City striker Sergio Agüero. Antero Henrique, the sporting director at the French club, knows the player’s representative, Hernán Reguera. Le Parisien has reported that the Argentine forward would consider a move away from Manchester; particularly given the emergence of Gabriel Jesús as a competitor for a starting berth in Pep Guardiola’s team.
