Gianluigi Donnarumma is poised to renew his contract with AC Milan ending weeks of speculation suggesting the goalkeeper was set to depart the Serie A side. Italian media outlets suggest that the signing of the extension is a formality after all sides involved finally reached a satisfactory agreement and the five year extension deal now just needs to be rubber stamped.

Clauses

Italian sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that the new deal will see the 18 year old earn an annual salary just short of six million euro with the player's agent Mino Raiola managing to insert a clause into the deal which will allow the player to leave Milan should the Rossoneri fail to secure Champions League football next season with willing suitors having to pay a fee of 50 million euro for his services. His release clause will also be raised to 100 million euro in the event that Vincenzo Montella's side qualify for European football's premier competition. The deal will also see the player's older brother, 26 year Antonio Donnarumma (currently with Greek side Asteras Tripolis) return to AC Milan,

Fans reaction

The news of the imminent renewal should pacify fans of the club who reacted badly to what they felt was mercenary-like tactics from the player with various anti-Donnarumma banners displayed at the club's HQ and even fans throwing fake dollar bills at the goalkeeper during the first match of the Italian U-21 side at the recent European Championship staged in Poland.
