Barcelona target Nice's Jean Seri
The Ivory Coast international midfielder is one of a number of the possible reinforcements the Catalan club are considering bringing in.
Barcelona are preparing to make a splash in the transfer market after pocketing 222 million euros from PSG for the transfer of Neymar to the Parc des Princes and the Catalan papers on Sunday offered up some of the names being considered by the Camp Nou board.
Seri interest from Camp Nou
Sport leads with a story linking Barça with a move for in-demand Nice midfielder Jean Seri, who has been the subject of interest from Arsenal, among others. The 26-year-old already has two assists to his name this season, both in the Champions League qualifiers against Ajax, and he chipped in with seven goals and nine assists as Nice launched a Ligue 1 title challenge last season.
Paulinho, currently at Guangzhou Evergrande in the Chinese Super League, has been mooted as a possible signing but Mundo Deportivo on Sunday led with the news that Barça are considering a splurge on Real Sociedad’s Iñigo Martínez, Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho and Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembélé.
Numbers game at Barça
Elsewhere, in La Vanguardia y L’Esportiu, there are greater concerns over the theoretical make-up of Ernesto Valverde’s squad next season with several players the club would like to move on but so far without success. The dailies also note that the new Barcelona boss will have something of a surplus in central defence if Martínez arrives.
