Real Madrid have continued to add games to their scoring record with Gerard Piqué helping them to a 67th consecutive match putting the ball into the opposition net in the Spanish Super Cup against Barcelona.

Madrid's 67-game goal streak

The first leg of the contest between LaLiga champions and Copa del Rey winners played at the Camp Nou ended 1-3 with Piqué's own goal being cancelled out by a Messi penalty before late corkers from both Cristiano Ronaldo and Marco Asensio gave Los Blancos a comfortable lead to take back to the Bernabéu on Wednesday night. And although many may have forgotten the incredible scoring streak last season from Zidane's men, they just can't stop.

Gareth Bale started the ball scoring

Since the Champions League final - we ignore the pre-season friendlies although Madrid scored in all four of them too! - the additon of the 2-1 victory over Manchester United in the European Super Cup plus the win in Barcelona have taken the record to 67 official games. The last time they failed to score was against Manchester City in the 0-0 Champions League game in England. After that was a visit to Anoeta on the 30 April and Real Sociedad were overcome by a single Gareth Bale goal. No one could have imagined then, with some very scruffy performances at times, that the run would still be going as we reach the start of the 2017/18 season.

Madrid trophies amid goals

During the run, Real Madrid have collected a few trophies along the way, suggesting that the team can do more than just score. Two consecutive Champions Leagues, one Liga, two European Super Cups and the World Club Cup.

Asensio's stunning goal was the 186th scored in this record-breaking streak which is broken down as:

LaLiga 112
Champions League 38
Copa del Rey 22
Club World Cup 6
European Super Cup 5
Spanish Super Cup 3

Top scorer, unsurprisingly, is Cristiano Ronaldo with 47 of these (25%). Bayern Munich previously held the record with 61 games set during the seasons 2012/13 and 2013/14. How long can Zidane's squad keep this going???
