Angry Betis fans vent fury at "biased" Kluivert's commentary
The ex-Barcelona ace became a trending topic on Twitter on Sunday as unhappy viewers criticised his punditry of Real Betis' Camp Nou defeat.
Ex-Barcelona striker Patrick Kluivert left fans of Real Betis enraged on Sunday over his co-commentary of Los Azulgranas' LaLiga win over the Andalusians.
The retired former Netherlands star was making his debut for the Spanish pay-TV channel beIN LaLiga alongside regular commentator José Sanchís, having joined the broadcaster this summer following his departure as PSG sporting director.
And as the hosts strolled to a 2-0 opening-weekend victory at the Camp Nou, Twitter was quick to fill up with comments by Betis-supporting viewers angered at an apparent pro-Barça bias in the punditry offered by Kluivert, who enjoyed a successful spell as a player at the Catalan club between 1998 and 2004.
Such was the social-media outrage caused by the 41-year-old's performance that he became a trending topic on Twitter in Spain.
Here are some of the tweets posted by unhappy Béticos:
"'Our wingers,' says Kluivert on @beINSPORTSes. Anyone would think Betis fans don't pay their monthly subscription [like everyone else]. What a DISGRACE"
"Kluivert is commentating on the match as if he were on Barça TV"
"@beINSPORTSes, I think Kluivert's commentary is a disgrace - a commentator should always be impartial; otherwise they should stay at home"
"If Patrick Kluivert were king, he'd be Patrick I the Biased"
