When does the transfer market close in Europe's major leagues?

Each league and governing body has its own policy as to when the local market will close with the Portuguese market remaining open through to September 22.

When does the transfer market close in each country?

Time is running out for European football clubs to snap up last minute players with the bulk of major European league windows set to close in the next few days. Not all leagues have the same closing time whilst the deadline to register players in the 2017/18 UEFA Champions and Europa Leagues concludes on September 1 at 23:59 (CEST).

Transfer windows in major European League:

Germany (August 31)

The Bundesliga is set to be the first of the "big five" to close with 18:00 CEST the deadline to register players for the season ahead in Germany.

England (August 31)

The Premier League also closes for business on the last day of August with the stalls coming down on the market at 22:59 GMT, one hour later in central Europe.

Italy (August 31)

Italy too closes its transfer window on the final day of the month with new player registrations not being accepted after 23:59 CEST.

France (August 31)

As is the case with England, Germany and Italy, the Ligue 1 window shuts at 23:59 tomorrow.

Spain (September 1)

Extended shopping time for the LaLiga Santander and Liga 1,2,3 clubs with the Spanish transfer window officially closing for business on September 1 at 23:59 CEST.

Other leagues

Along with Spain, other European leagues that keep their transfer activity ticking through the month of September are: Andorra, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Israel, Portugal, Czech Republic, Romanía, San Marino, Turkey and Ukraine. The Portuguese market is the latest to close, doing so on September 22, the deadline as stipulated by FIFA.
