BAYERN MUNICH

Bayern players secretly trained behind Ancelotti's back - Kicker

Several players decided to hold their own private workouts. Robben complained that the training sessions his son's team do are more demanding than Ancelotti's.

Carlo Ancelotti's days as Bayern Munich coach were already numbered long before the club decided to hand him his marching orders last Friday. The rupture between the coach and the squad was apparent even during the latter stages of last season. German football magazine Kicker revealed more details of the breakdown in the Italian's relationship with his squad and reported that other players - apart from the five mentioned last week by Bild (Ribéry, Robben, Hummels, Boateng and Müller), were also unhappy with his working methods.

Robben: Bayern's training sessions less demanding than my son's

The most scathing criticism came from Robben. The Dutch winger refused to give his support to Ancelotti after the PSG defeat and in today's Kicker a new detail emerged about his spats with the coach. According to the magazine, Robben would routinely criticize Ancelotti's training sessions, saying that they were less strenuous than the ones his son has to do with his school team.

A number of others complained that the squad should be training harder with some even taking upon themselves to do extra work in private, behind the coach's back. Bild reported last week that Uli Hoeness would receive a heated phonecall from Franck Ribéry every time he was taken off in a match while Kicker claim that Neuer, Müller and Boateng had all moaned about the breezy, unchallenging nature of Ancelotti's training sessions to Karl-Heinz Rummenigge at the start of the season.
