Usain Bolt: Cristiano, Martens and Masuluke to win FIFA Awards

The Olympic legend has said that he would vote for Boroka FC goalkeeper for the FIFA Puskas Award, and puts Real Madrid and Dutch leaders up for best players.

Update:
Usain Bolt for Oscarine Masuluke to win FIFA Puskas Award

Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt has backed Baroka FC goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke to win the FIFA Puskas Award for the best goal of the 2016/2017 season.

The South African keeper has been nominated for his overhead kick goal against Orlando Pirates in stoppage time during their Absa Premiership encounter at the Orlando Stadium on April 26. The 24-year-old goalie is up against Oliver Giroud and the Venezuelan Deyna Castellanos.

Bolt: “That is impressive”

In an interview with FIFA.com, the recently retired sprinter told that he feels Masuluke is worthy of becoming the first African player to win the award.

“I’d vote for Oscarine Masuluke. For a goalkeeper to score an overhead kick in stoppage time like that is impressive.”

Cristiano for best male player

Also, when asked who between Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar should win the Best FIFA Men’s player award this year, Bolt declared that he is backing the Portuguese.

“I would go for Ronaldo. All three are amazing players but in the last year Cristiano won La Liga, the Champions League again and finished top scorer for the fifth season. His ability to stay at the top year after year is very impressive.”

Martens for best female player

Regarding the Women’s Player award, the Jamaican said that he would vote for the Dutch Lieke Martens.

My vote would go to Lieke Martens. She led Holland to that European Championship win and was Player of the Tournament.”

The Best FIFA Football Awards 2017 are to be held on 23 October in London.
