José Ángel: "Casemiro's got a thug mentality; there was no need to call me a knobhead"
The Eibar and Real Madrid players were team mates at Porto: “It was terrible what he did - and even worse that he knows me. He acts like a thug”.
In the 21st minute of last night's game at the Bernabéu, Eibar didn't kick the ball out of play when Dani Ceballos was down injured. It's not unusual for Mendilibar's team to continue playing when a rival is down but Casemiro didn't like the fact that Eibar didn't stop play so that his team mate could get medical attention and squared up to several players on the opposing side, including José Ángel 'Cote', who he knows well from their time together at Porto. Casemiro and Eibar's Charles were both booked as a result of the altercation.
Casemiro was out of order, says Eibar's José Ángel
José Ángel gave an account of his run-in with Casemiro in the Mixed Zone after the game: “I know him from our time together at Porto, I think he's a decent guy but he got it wrong today and he was out of order. It's not for me to say what he said to my face. He was calling me a knobhead and other things. That is a thug attitude in my book and I don't like it - not from him or from anyone. But it's worse coming from him because he knows me. There was no need for that. You'll never see me going in another player's face like that”.
