Iker Casillas to be pushed out of Porto in January - El País
This could be the reason that the former Real Madrid goalkeeper has been dropped to the bench as the Portuguese club is investigated by Uefa under FFP rules.
Iker Casillas' situation at Primeira Liga side FC Porto is uncertain. The Spanish goalkeeper, a legend at former club Real Madrid, has been dropped to the bench in the last two matches and reports are now stating that he will be sold in the upcoming January transfer window.
Casillas trains well says coach
Porto's manager, Sergio Conceiçao, came out to quash earlier reports in the Portuguese media which had questioned Casillas' attitiude in training and citing the players inappropriate use of his mobile phone.
"Casillas' behaviour is fantasic, full stop. He works and does whatever I tell him," declared Conceiçao
Iker sale to balance finances
Today another potential angle to this story was reported. El País, Spain's largest national newspaper, said on Tuesday that FC Porto are looking to "push out" Casillas in the winter transfer window. The reason given for this move is that the club are aiming to offset possible sanctions by Uefa over Financial Fair Play (FFP) breaches and removing one of their biggest names off the wage bill, as well as targeting a significant fee, will aid their cause.
Casillas is reportedly paid around five million euros per season, the highest paid player at the club.
