PSG stretched their lead at the summit of Ligue 1 with a swaggering victory over mid-table Angers. Kylian Mbappé and Edinson Cavani both scored twice and Julian Draxler netted the other at the Stade Raymond Kopa.
A Neymar-less Paris Saint-Germain rushed in to an early lead when Mbappé helped Dani Alves’ cross in to the bottom corner after five minutes. Vincent Manceau squandered a decent chance for the home side before Draxler added a second within the first 15 minutes. The Germany international threaded on to Alves’ through-ball and navigated the ‘keeper with a dinked finish.
Cavani scored his 100th goal for the Parisien club after 30 minutes, but the goal was all about Mbappé’s incisive backheel in the build-up. The Uruguayan scored his second just after the hour mark to move one goal closer to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s 113 goals for the club.
Mbappé wrapped up the victory in the last five minutes, rounding the ‘keeper and squeezing the ball past a flailing defender at the near post. At 18 years and 10 months, he becomes the youngest player to reach 20 Ligue 1 goals in the last 40 years.
Unai Emery’s well-oiled machine gobbled up another side, ground it down between its malevolent cogs, and spat it out at the other end.
