Atlético demand that Griezmann performs in line with his salary
Frustration is growing at the club after making a considerable effort to retain the French striker last summer with a significant salary increase.
Despite the balsamic win at Vigo at the week-end, frustration at the club is still simmering about the poor form that French striker Antoine Griezmann is currently undergoing with lackadaisical performance after another. A veiled comment from coach Diego "El Cholo" Simeone ahead of the Celta game when he stated that there was no match-winner in his side reveals the exacerbation at the club relating to the forward.
Others at the club are optimistic that the player will regain his form and that this dip in form is just a "blip" suffered by all strikers at various points of their careers. Those less patient at Atleti are exasperated that after managing to hold onto the player this summer with a significant salary increase, the response from the striker is the current fallow patch with just two LaLiga goals to his name in the current campaign.
Griezmann decided to stay with Atlético after the club were hit with a FIFA transfer ban and has suitors interested in his signature from all corners of Europe with Bayern Munich, PSG and FC Barcelona all strongly rumoured to be interested in the 26-year-old.
When the next transfer window opens Griezmann's buy-out clause drops from it's current 200 million euro to 100 million despite the player having a contract with Atleti, which , in-theory ties the player to the Spanish outfit through to 2022.
