Game of Thrones: Atlético and Real Madrid players compete
The season's first battle for the Madrileño Throne takes place on Saturday and our resident GoT fan took some time to put players into the role of the story's characters.
This weekend sees Atlético Madrid host city rivals Real Madrid in LaLiga. The is the first meeting between the two giants of the 2017/18 campaign and is notable for being the first ever Madrid derby at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano.
As Diego Simeone and Zinedine Zidane put their minds to selecting their starting XIs for the match, our resident Epik reporters got to thinking about who some of the players would best represent in Game of Thrones. Here, is their selection.
Godín and Griezmann as Hodor and Bran Stark
Carrasco as Oberyn
Skilled and insightful, he arrived from the Belgian lands to combine his struggle with the Kingdom of Atlético. It's dangerous to leave him too much space. He does have a staunch enemy, however: Casemiro "The Mountain" Clegane.
Gabi as Sandor "The Hound" Clegane
Koke as Tormund Giantsbane
The muscle of the Kingdom of Atlético. Raised among humble people and without knowing their fate, little by little he has developed into a warrior who gives little respite to his rival with his wild, but refined weaponary.
Saúl as Jon Snow
The bastard who wants his piece of the Throne. Raised for two years in the court of the Royal Madridista, now Saúl Snow wants to recover what is rightfully his and to dominate all the Capital Lands and to unite the kings. To get to this point he spent one year honing his skills with the Wildlings of Rayo Vallecano, who will stand by his side when called upon.
Casemiro as The Mountain
Asensio as Gendry
Cristiano Ronaldo as Jamie Lannister
Modric as Tyrion Lannister
Marcelo as Grey Worm
Ramos as Khal Drogo
Isco as Beric Dondarrion
