The Atlético boss has seen his side go unbeaten in 18 league matches, a feat last achieved in 1990-91 with Tomislav Ivic in charge at the Calderón.
Diego Simeone has led his side to 18 games unbeaten in LaLiga after victory over Real Sociedad on Saturday, matching a club record that has stood since the 1990-91 season and was only achieved once before, in 1940-41. The last time Atlético were defeated was on 25 April, in week 34 of the 2016-17 season, when Villarreal left the Calderón with three points.
Since then, Atlético have beaten Las Palmas (twice), Eibar, Athletic, Málaga, Athletic, Sevilla, Celta, Deportivo, Levante and Real Sociedad and earned draws against Betis, Girona, Valencia, Leganés, Barcelona, Villarreal and Real Madrid.

The last time Atlético went on an 18-game unbeaten streak was 26 years ago, with Tomislav Ivic in charge of the side and consisted of 12 wins - Zaragoza, Cádiz, Real Sociedad, Logroñés, Real Madrid, Espanyol, Valencia, Valladolid, Athletic, Osasuna, Sporting and Castellón – and six draws against Oviedo, Betis, Tenerife, Burgos, Barcelona and Sevilla).
In the 1940s and coached by goalkeeping great Ricardo Zamora, Atlético (then Atlético Aviación) also went 18 games unbeaten over the course of almost a year, winning 13 against Celta, Murcia, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Hércules, Sevilla, Espanyol, Oviedo (twice), Valencia, Real Sociedad, Castellón and Granada and drawing with Valencia, Zaragoza, Hércules and Athletic (twice).
